If you are an owner of prized cattle herd, you have probably faced the difficult challenge of finding quality forage on a consistent basis. It is not always easy to keep the digestive system of your livestock properly functioning, while also meeting a large percentage of your animal’s daily nutrient requirements at a reasonable cost. Chaffhaye provides a solution as a superior alternative to baled hay and processed feeds for your cattle.
For All Classes of Bovine
Benefits for Cattle
There are unique biological aspects to Chaffhaye that exert health and physiological benefits beyond the nutrition of the forage itself. Chaffhaye undergoes an all natural fermentation process in the package that enlivens it with yeast, enzymes, and beneficial microflora. Chaffhaye’s beneficial microflora, or fiber-digesting bacteria, closely resembles those found in the early fiber-digestion process in the rumen of ruminants. In essence, Chaffhaye “predigests” the forage in the bag. Once consumed, more of its nutrients can be assimilated (absorbed ) in the body, leading to greater nutritional benefit.
How an animal nutritionally utilizes their feed is just as important as what is in that feed. A feed can have all the nutrition in the world but if the animal can not absorb that nutrition it is lost in manure. An animal’s ability to absorb a feed is known as their “biological response” to the feed. With Chaffhaye your cattle will achieve one of the highest possible biological responses.
- Higher Weight Gain & Milk Production
Increased nutrient absorption and microbial based protein production make Chaffhaye great for both meat & milk operations

Beneficial bacteria and yeast cultures for optimum digestive health
- Reduces “Hay Belly”
Better absorption means less intestinal fill. Stomachs will begin to tuck in within 10 days. Chaffhaye is an ideal feed for saddled and show animals.
- 50% Less Manure
More nutrient absorption means less manure
- Airborne Mold & Dust Free
As a naturally moist feed, Chaffhaye minimizes respiratory ailments in animals sensitive to dust or airborne mold spores.

Soft & palatable, your animals will eat every last bit, no stems left behind
- Easy to Transport
Its compact form and high nutrition density is easier and cheaper to transport. Chaffhaye is ideal for travelers.
- Convenient Storage
Chaffhaye can be stored indoor or outdoors. Being compressed it takes up 1/3 the space of baled hay. Chaffhaye has a 18 month shelf life – with no loss of nutritional value.
We control every aspect from farming to packaging to ensure only the highest quality alfalfa makes it into Chaffhaye. Our guaranteed nutritional analysis gives the animal owner the peace of mind in knowing exactly what they are feeding each and every time.
- Cost Effective
Chaffhaye is much more nutritious than hay, so the amount of supplements and hard feeds can be greatly reduced. Other considerations are lower feeding and storage losses. A long shelf life with no loss of nutritional value means no wasted feed.
When Changing Feed
Chaffhaye is designed to meet the forage portion of your cattle’s diet. Depending on such factors as age, breed, lactation, available pasture, and whether you are feeding solely Chaffhaye Alfalfa or Chaffhaye along with other forages and grains, an energy and/or vitamin and mineral supplement may be needed. Consult a Chaffhaye representative or your vet for further information.
Feed changes should be made gradually over a period of 7 to 14 days. Changes in the rate of feeding should not exceed 2 pounds per day.
How to store an open bag
Once opened, Chaffhaye acts like any fresh product. By opening the bag, the forage becomes exposed to oxygen and begins to lose its freshness. As a guide, Chaffhaye will remain fresh for 7 to 14 days, depending on weather conditions. For this reason, an opened bag should be stored out of the sun and re-closed to prolong freshness. Follow these 3 steps to ensure your Chaffhaye stays as fresh as possible.
